Become a Supporter
Women in Philanthropy (“WIP”) is comprised of a diverse group of women and men who are committed to transforming the lives of women and girls in Lackawanna County. Any person, 18 years of age and older, who shares a vision of working collectively to accomplish this mission is welcomed and encouraged to become a supporter.
WIP is unique in that is encourages ACTIVE involvement and decision-making. It is philanthropy that involves people who want to be a part of the process of changing people’s lives.
Benefits of WIP Support
Supporters of WIP have the opportunity to:
– Participate in the process to determine how future WIP funding is allocated.
– Attend special WIP networking events with the Scranton Area Community Foundation to learn about challenges in our community.
– Attend site visits to see how the work they are doing through WIP is helping to solve community challenges.
– And other opportunities for active engagement.
How to Become Involved in WIP
WIP offers various levels of involvement for supporters, and is both open to women and men:
1. Founding Supporters
• Part of Women in Philanthropy’s (WIP) Leadership Committee.
• Ability to guide and structure future priority areas.
• Voting rights for grant-making decisions.
• Opportunity to chair/ participate in WIP Committees.
• Able to suggest and plan WIP events.
• Invitations to all WIP events.
• Invitation to all Scranton Area Community Foundation events.
• Opportunities for site visits with funding recipients.
• $10,000 total commitment over a 5 year period (Can be broken down into monthly payments of $166.66)
2. Guiding Supporters
• Ability to guide and structure future priority areas.
• Voting rights for grant-making decisions.
• Opportunity to chair/ participate in WIP Committees.
• Invitations to all WIP events.
• Opportunities for site visits with funding recipients.
• $2,500 total commitment over a 5 year period (Can be broken down into monthly payments of $41.66)
3. Impact Supporters
• Voting rights for grant-making decisions.
• Opportunity to participate on WIP Committees.
• Invitations to all WIP events.
• Opportunities for site visits with funding recipients.
• $1,000 total commitment over 5 year period (Can be broken down into monthly payments of $16.66.)
4. Emerging Philanthropists
• Available to supporters 30 years of age or younger.
• Voting rights for grant-making decisions.
• Invitations to all WIP events
• $100 per year for 5 years or until the age of 35.
• Monthly payments available for $8.33
5. WIP Contributors
• Open to any individual or business that supports the mission of Women in Philanthropy and wants to contribute to its success without being involved in the decision-making process.
How WIP Works
WIP Support dues will be placed into an endowed fund at the Scranton Area Community Foundation, which will ensure grant funding for transformative, critical programs that change the lives in women in girls over the long-term.
